ALMOND BLOSSOM

POSTMODERN BOTANICA LOOK_05

The starting point for my collection is a flower guide my mother gave me when I was a child. With each change of season, we would go on walks together, searching for local flowers from the guide. My parents immigrated with me to Israel when I was young, and through this intimate tradition, my mother planted in me a deep love for the land. Each piece in the collection is inspired by a different Israeli wildflower and features original prints based on photographs I’ve taken over the years. Through my camera lens, I explored the complexity of wildflowers—their forms, textures, colors, and reproductive structures. I then layered these images with hand embroidery, created silk prints from real flowers, and painted with oil to develop a visual language of my own. The flowers’ shapes also guided the creation of new garment patterns. The result is a contemporary, emotional, and deeply personal interpretation of each flower.

 A CHILDHOOD MEMORY

project is inspired by visiting Park Canada with my mother on Tu BiShvat to see almond trees bloom. I chose satin to reflect the petals' sheen and created a color palette mirroring the groves' light.

ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY

I designed the fabric print using Photoshop from my blossom photography. By creating a repeat pattern and enhancing colors, I transformed my experiences into a custom fabric for the entire look.

DEFINING ASYMMETRY

The silhouette was crafted on a model for natural movement, using molded satin to achieve an asymmetrical design that balances fluid drape with structure, creating an organic look.

ORNAMENTATION & CRAFTSMANSHIP

I crafted almond blossom details with a mix of embroidery and hand-beading. Thepuffer" fabric added 3D elements against the satin. Using my photography, I studied light and color variations, then added beads to mirror the stamens and enhance sparkle.
